Description
1939-S WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 1939-S Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A close clockwise (CW) spread pivoting from about 12:00 shows on the designer's initials, the date and the lower ribbon, and slightly on IN GOD WE TRUST. On the obverse, ESE of the bottom of the ribbon there is a small gouge. Scratches head east off the L in LIBERTY, from its right side, a west-to-east scratch lies under the right side of the R, and a scratch runs WNW off the top right of the Y. Wexler notes no reverse markers. Kevin Flynn submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. The photos were taken for the Wexler Files by Billy G. Crawford.
