Description
Notable for documenting a reverse die change mid-production, this VarietyVista-recorded 1930-D Lincoln Wheat Cent RPM-004 shows how a single obverse die could be paired with different reverses during its service life. Die markers cover two pairings: UVC-030 / DMR-005 for Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed) and Stage B with strong secondary mintmark at MDS and reverse at LDS; then UVC-031 / DMR-006 for Stage C with medium secondary mintmark at LDS and a fresh reverse at EDS. The reverse condition jumping from LDS back to EDS proves the reverse die was replaced while the RPM obverse continued in service. Struck at the Denver Mint in 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm during the early Depression years.
