1929-S Repunched Mintmark WRPM-007

Description

Seven repunched mintmarks cataloged for a single date and mint — the 1929 San Francisco Lincoln Wheat Cent — places this issue among the more prolific RPM producers of its era. WRPM-007 (Wexler Variety ID: 1929-S 1¢ WRPM-007) is the latest entry in this growing roster, documenting yet another working die on which the S mintmark received multiple punch impressions. The concentration of RPM varieties on the 1929-S cent likely reflects both the number of die pairs consumed during production and the intensity of collector examination this date has received. Cherrypicking for RPMs on pre-Depression S-mint cents can be particularly rewarding, as many examples reside in old collections assembled before variety awareness became widespread.
