1929 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-003

Description

1929-S WRPM-003 is a repunched mint mark on the 1929-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S East, with the secondary S east of the primary. The obverse is also a doubled die, which the Wexler Doubled Die Files catalog as 1929-S 1¢ WDDO-001, with a spread to the SSE on the tops of the 1 and 9 of the date. Obverse markers: a short west-east crack low inside the R of TRUST; two short scratches extending north from the top of the L's horizontal bar in LIBERTY; a scratch running NW from the upper left of the first 9 to touch the upper right tip of the 1; two parallel NW-to-SE scratches below the mint mark; two parallel scratches running NW from the upper left of the 2; and two parallel scratches running SW from the 1, one from the upper and one from the lower part of its left side. Reverse: a crack runs SSE from the right wheat ear to the rim near 4:00. Lloyd Hanson submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 1-O-IV + VIII; Wexler notes that CONECA includes the doubled die obverse but does not list the RPM.
