1928 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-002

Description

This 1928 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent repunched mint mark, WRPM-002, is cataloged by Wexler (doubleddie.com) as 1928-S 1¢ WRPM-002. A large S mint mark shows two repunchings, S/S/S North & South. On Stage A both secondary S's are strong, with a die scratch from the 1 of the date south to the vest and a north-south scratch linking the upper and lower ends of the 9. By Stage C the northern secondary is abraded away and the southern one is weak. Reverse markers by stage: a north-south scratch between the second U and the M of UNUM (A), a die chip left of center on the P of PLURIBUS (B), and a scratch running north from the upper left of the M of UNUM (C).
