1928 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-001

Description

This 1928 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent repunched mint mark, WRPM-001, is cataloged by Wexler (doubleddie.com) as 1928-S 1¢ WRPM-001. A large S mint mark shows two repunchings, S/S/S Northwest & North. Stage A has strong secondaries and a die chip west of the lower tail of the 9. The northern secondary is weaker on Stage B and abraded away on Stage C, which adds a gouge running SE from the lower serif of the mint mark. Reverse: die chips on the left inner leg and the lower diagonal of the N in CENT (Stages A-B), then on Stage C cracks running NW from the tip of the right wheat ear and north from the tip of the left.
