The late 1920s represented a mature phase of Lincoln Cent manufacturing, with nearly twenty years of accumulated experience in die preparation and press operation behind both branch mints. Cuds from this era tend to be found on well-circulated coins, since the typical 1928-S cent saw years of commercial use before being pulled from circulation, and the raised cud area itself often shows heavy wear that can reduce a once-dramatic blob to a rounded bump.
