1927-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-005

Description

Qualifying as a dual variety, this 1927-D Lincoln Wheat Cent pairs a repunched mintmark on the reverse with an independently cataloged doubled die obverse listed as 1927-D 1¢ WDDO-003. The obverse doubling is the more prominent feature, with an extra eyelid visible below Lincoln's primary eyelid and additional doubling on the bottom of TY in LIBERTY. The doubled eyelid creates an immediately recognizable diagnostic, as the human eye naturally detects anomalies in facial features. On the reverse, the D mintmark shows repunching evidence where the initial placement was adjusted, leaving overlapping impressions. Dual varieties, where both sides carry independently recognized catalog entries, represent a convergence that variety collectors particularly prize.
