1925 (S) Buffalo Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-003 / RPM-003

Description

RPM-003, which Wexler numbers WRPM-003, is a repunched mint mark on the 1925-S Buffalo nickel, with a secondary S lying east of the primary S (S/S East). Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties gives the same S/S East description and credits Lloyd Hanson with submitting the coin. The specimen Wexler examined was circulated, and it records no visible die markers on either the obverse or the reverse. Its cross-reference is CONECA RPM #3. VarietyVista also names Lloyd Hanson as the reporter. It follows the die under its marker codes UVC-069 and DMR-004 through three stages: Stage A in an early die state, Stage B with the reverse in a middle die state and the obverse in a very late one, and Stage C in a late die state. VarietyVista has not confirmed Stage A or Stage C.
