1910 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-003

Description

1910-S WRPM-003 is a repunched mint mark on the 1910-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as Inverted S/Inverted S East: both S punches are upside down, with the secondary one east of the primary. Obverse Stage A shows clash marks behind the head, around the lower hair and neck, and at the throat. A scratch heads north along the left side of the D in GOD, then curves NNE into the rim, and a NW/SE scratch sits low on the left inside the O of GOD. On Stage B these markers are weaker. Stage C adds an east-west crack across the bust that curves NW, following the shoulder toward its back. On Stage D most markers are gone. Reverse Stage A has a U-shaped scratch on the E of STATES, against the left side of its vertical bar and below the midpoint. Stage B shows a depression at the rim at 4:30. Stage C adds a crack leaving the rim near 8:00 and running NE to the wheat grains. On Stage D a rim cud takes the place of the Stage B depression. Lloyd Hanson submitted Stages A, C and D, and Doug Yost Stage B. CONECA lists it as RPM #3; the Coppercoins number is 1910S-1MM-003.
