1887-P VAM-1C Clashed Obverse n and st, Clashed Reverse M Discovered by C. Logan McKechnie July 2004. Revision by Scott Hamilton, 2010. Revised 2017 by: R.M. Gapa 1C(revised) III21 · C3a (Clashed Obverse n and st, Clashed Reverse M) (190) Obverse III21– Clashed die with faint tick of partial incuse n of In from reverse next to Liberty head neck and faint partial clashed s and weak t at lower hair vee on early clashed specimens. Date at left edge of normal position. Faint counter-clash at back of cap below ribbon. Die marker - Tiny die chip at back of Phrygian cap fold. Reverse C3a– Clashed die with faint raised designer’s initial M from obverse above d in God. DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # Key marker is the die chip on Phrygian Cap found on all specimens (you may not see it on lower grade coins due to wear, with some searching [[1887-P VAM-1C is relatively easy to find up to MS63,but gets harder to find in MS64 or better. # Very similar to [[1887-P VAM-14A, please confirm date placement and reverse crack between C A of America and eagles right wing. # Mid die state coins show an "st" clash also.
