Description
1884-O VAM-3 Far Date, Doubled 1, O/O Line on Left Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, June 1966. 3 III2 2-C3r (Far Date, Doubled 1, O/O Line on Left) (181) Obverse III22 - 1 double at top to left. Date set further right than normal. Reverse C3r - II O mint mark doubled on left inside as a line and at top inside as a diagonal line. DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # [[1884-O VAM-3 and [[1884-O VAM-38 do not share the same obverse. The LVA plates listing both are outdated, but serve as a good way to compare a [[1884-O VAM-3 to a [[1884-O VAM-38. The key feature for a [[1884-O VAM-3 is the interior of the repunched mint mark is much stronger than the listing would indicate. The 'line on left' feature is the left edge of a nearly complete right side of a secondary Oval O mint mark that almost fills the opening of the primary mintmark.
