=1879-S VAM-21 Doubled Date, S/S High, Engraved Wreath Leaves= Discovered by Bill Deterline, December 1977. 21 (revised) III2 10 ∙ C3h (Doubled Date, S/S High, Engraved Wreath Leaves) (184) Obverse III2 10 – Entire date is doubled. 1 is doubled at bottom of lower crossbar in middle. 8 doubled slightly at left inside and right outside of lower loop. 7 doubled strongly at very top and slightly on right side of vertical shaft. 9 doubled slightly on left outside of both loops. ''Die marker'' - Polishing lines inside ear. Reverse C3h – IV S mint mark doubled with curved diagonal line in middle of upper loop opening and a diagonal line at top of lower loop opening. Engraving on two leaves above N and left end leaf above O of ONE, edge of leaf above left star and leaf opposite U of UNITED. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # 2 die states are known to date, the most common and plentiful is the LDS where the the designers initial is overpolished on obverse and overpolished lines inside bow can be seen. # Vam 21 EDS is harder to find.
