Description
1879-S WRPM-001 is a repunched mint mark on the 1879-S Morgan dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as an S/S Southeast. The obverse carries WRPD-001, a 1/1 in the date, and a scratch that leaves PLURIBUS's last U at its lower center and runs SSE to the bonnet. On the reverse, right of the first olive on the left (counting from the center), there is an N/S scratch. John Bordner submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #3, and its VAM numbers are #15, #17, #54 and #114. Wexler notes the pictured coin is the VAM #15 die pairing.
