Description
1879-S WRPD-001 is a repunched date on the 1879-S Morgan dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler writes it as 1879/1: the extra 1 sits low, to the north of the primary digit. On the obverse, a scratch runs SSE to the bonnet from the lower center of PLURIBUS's last U. The reverse carries WRPM-001, an S/S Southeast, and an N/S scratch lies right of the first olive on the left, counting from the center. John Bordner submitted the variety. Its VAM numbers are #15, #20 and #73, and Wexler notes the pictured coin is the VAM #15 die pairing.
