1878-S VAM-22 DDO "RIB" Discovered by Jim Baxter, September 1977. Revised 2010 This coin is a Hot 50 Morgan VAM and a Top 30 1878-S Variety. '''22 (revised) II 9 ∙ B2g (Doubled motto, S Set Left) (185) ''' '''Obverse II 9 –''' All motto letters strongly doubled. Doubled 1,2,4,,5 and 6 right stars. 1 and 7 in date doubled at top right. First 8 doubled on lower left outside of upper loop and top inside of both loops. Second 8 tripled at left inside of upper loop. Fourth right star is doubled, but not broken. Some die states vertical die polishing lines in fields. '''Reverse B2g –''' Small III S mint mark set left and slightly high. R in Trust is not broken. Some die states show vertical die polishing lines in fields and over polished tail feathers and lower part of eagle's right wing.
