2025 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-011

Description

2025 WDDO-011 is a doubled die obverse on the 2025 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Doubling shows along the bottom edge of the nose, and a very slight amount shows within the Y of LIBERTY, in its opening. Obverse markers: a diagonal crack on the eyebrow; a gouge (dot) behind the neck; roughly vertical scratches through the TY of LIBERTY; light diagonal scratches through the W of WE at its upper right edge; diagonal scratches through the RUS of TRUST; and a gouge over its S. Wexler notes that the reverse is itself a doubled die, which the Wexler files list as 2025 WDDR-002. Reverse markers: a light diagonal scratch running from UNITED's T out to the rim; a vertical gouge at the rim over the ED of UNITED, between the letters; a gouge at the rim NE of the last S in STATES; a gouge at the rim over the A and M of AMERICA, between them; a pre-die chip depression on the shield's upper left edge, over the first U in PLURIBUS; a gouge and a diagonal scratch over the B in PLURIBUS; and a light diagonal scratch right of the LB initials.
