2025 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-010

Description

2025 WDDO-010 is a doubled die obverse on the 2025 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Doubling shows on the upper part of Lincoln's eye and along the bottom edge of the nose. Obverse, Stage A: a tiny gouge (dot) under the second 2 of the date; a diagonal die flow line on the front of the bust, under the first 2; inside the R of LIBERTY, in its lower right opening, a tiny dot; many tiny dots below the RTY of LIBERTY and behind the lower bust; a tiny dot on the upper right edge of the ear opening; a small dot on the back of the upper lip; and vertical flow lines on the jacket's shoulder fold. Stage B: the Stage A dot under the second 2, the dot on the back of the upper lip, and the flow lines on the shoulder fold and under the first 2 can all still be seen; new are a dot in the field under the OD of GOD and a dot on the neck below the ear. Reverse, Stage A: a pair of gouges near the rim over the UN of UNITED; a distinctive line of gouges through the ITE of UNITED; a dot centered under the LB initials; and light diagonal scratches to the left of the ribbon curl on the right. At Stage B, the gouges through ITE are now faint, the scratches by the right ribbon curl remain, and new are a group of tiny gouges in the field below the UNI of UNITED, a chip on the M in AMERICA, on its upper left arm, and a small dot on the upper right arm of the N in UNUM.
