Description
A doubled ear shows to the southwest of the normal ear. Die Markers: Obverse: Several small die gouges can be found below the first 2 in the date. A series of light vertical die scratches run through the right side of the date. Very light horizontal die scratches show inside the letter D in GOD. A vertical die scratch shows to the right of Lincoln’s chin. Reverse: Light die gouges run north from upper I and T in UNITED. Light die gouges show on either side of the upper last A in AMERICA. A curved die scratch shows between the letters T and Y in LIBERTY. A light, horizontal die scratch runs below the Y in LIBERTY. A curved die crack runs northwest from Lincoln’s eyebrow into his forehead. A vertical die crack is present in Lincoln’s hair below WE. A light, vertical die crack shows on the lower lapel of Lincoln’s jacket. Reverse: A series of light die scratches run through the letters ITED in UNITED. A curved die crack runs southwest from the lower left edge of the O in ONE. A light die crack shows on the lower left edge of the shield.
