2025 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-007

Description

2025 WDDO-007 is a doubled die obverse on the 2025 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Doubling shows on the RU of TRUST and inside the ear, and within the upper openings of both the Y in LIBERTY and the 5 in the date. Wexler records two stages, with the same obverse markers on both: a gouge (dot) on the jacket front, SSE of the bowtie; a light vertical crack in the hair under WE's W; a small patch of die damage on the shoulder, NW of the lapel's back tip; a series of die flow lines on the lower jacket; and a gouge (dot) behind the lower bust. Stage A reverse markers: a chip with associated cracks on the shield's upper left edge; a vertical crack through UNITED's U, in its left arm, that continues below it into the field; a curved crack under the O of ONE; a small chip on the lower left corner of ONE's N; a horizontal crack through the lower part of the E in CENT; and a horizontal crack across the shield's lower tip. On the Stage B reverse, all the Stage A markers are still visible, and the crack through the U's left arm reaches farther south, splitting into two branches at its lower end. Steven J.
