2025 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-006

Description

2025 WDDO-006 is a doubled die obverse on the 2025 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Doubling shows on the R and U of TRUST, the Y of LIBERTY, and the date's 5 at its upper opening. Wexler records two stages. Stage A obverse markers: a gouge (dot) at the rim NW of the G in GOD; a gouge on the O of GOD, low on its outer curve; a small gouge (dot) right of the upper part of TRUST's last T; over the BE of LIBERTY, a series of horizontal scratches; a tiny gouge (dot) along the top edge of LIBERTY's E; an area of die damage between the T and Y of LIBERTY; a long crack running NNW into the forehead from the eyebrow; and die flow lines running from the back of the bust. On the Stage B obverse, all of these remain but are weaker, except the forehead crack, which is unchanged; Stage B adds a gouge touching the 0 of the date at its upper left side and a strong gouge right of the U in TRUST. Stage A reverse markers: a chip on the shield's upper left edge over the PL of PLURIBUS; a gouge (dot) over the second U in UNUM; a gouge on the ribbon under the N of ONE; and an area of die damage on the lower shield under the E of CENT. On the Stage B reverse, all of these remain but are weaker, and new markers appear: a series of gouges (dots) around the AM of AMERICA; a chip and crack on the shield's upper left edge; a strong gouge on the shield's top edge over the second U in UNUM; a chip on the central horizontal stripe of the shield under the R of PLURIBUS; a die erosion line along the right ribbon's inside edge; and a jagged crack along the shield's lower left edge.
