Description

Doubling shows on the RU in TRUST, on the inside of the ear, inside the upper opening of the Y in LIBERTY and inside the upper opening of the 5 in the date. Die Markers: Obverse: Stage A: A die gouge (dot) shows on the front of Lincoln’s jacket, SSE of the bowtie. A light vertical die crack shows in the hair below the W in WE. A small area of die damage shows on Lincoln’s shoulder northwest of the back tip of the lapel. A series of die flow lines show on Lincoln’s lower jacket. A die gouge (dot) shows behind Lincoln’s lower bust. Stage B: Same as Stage A. Reverse: Stage A: A die chip and associated die cracks show on the upper left shield edge. A vertical die crack runs through the left arm of the U in UNITED and below out into the field. A curved die crack shows below the O in ONE. A small die chip shows on the lower left corner of the N in ONE. A horizontal die crack runs through the lower E in CENT. A horizontal die crack runs across the lower tip of the shield. Stage B: All Stage A die markers are still visible. The die crack through the left arm of the U in UNITED extends further south, forking into two branches at its lower end. Submitted By: Steven J. A tiny die gouge (dot) shows along the upper edge of the E in LIBERTY. An area of die damage shows between the T and Y in LIBERTY. A long die crack runs NNW into the forehead from Lincoln’s eyebrow. Die flow lines run from the back of the bust. Reverse: A die chip shows on the upper left shield edge above the PL in PLURIBUS. A die gouge (dot) shows above the second U in UNUM. A die gouge shows on the ribbon below the N in ONE. An area of die damage shows on the lower shield below the E in CENT.
