2024 (P) Hon. Patsy Takemoto Mink Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse VDDO-004

Description

Strong spread in a southward direction on the upper eyelid and brow characterizes this doubled die obverse cataloged for the 2024 American Women Quarter, part of the series (2022-2025) honoring notable American women on its reverses, with Washington's portrait on the obverse. Die markers include UVC-???? and DMR-00? designations (awaiting final assignment), with three documented stages: Stage A with obverse and reverse in early die state, Stage B in mid die state (unconfirmed), and Stage C in late die state (unconfirmed). The American Women Quarters program, launched in 2022, features a different portrait of a notable American woman on each reverse alongside the standard obverse portrait, providing new design elements for variety searchers to examine. The strong southward spread suggests a significant misalignment during hubbing that shifted the secondary impression downward relative to the primary image. Cataloged by VarietyVista, this early-catalog-number DDO for a very recent date reflects the rapid pace at which modern die varieties are discovered and documented.
