Description
Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, the 2018 (P) Jefferson Nickel is part of the Jefferson Nickels Return to Monticello 2006 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 629.5 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 50% of production. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson facing forward in a three-quarter view, the first forward-facing portrait on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays Monticello in a refined depiction. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $1 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5 grams, 21.2 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #675695.
