Description
The 2016 (P) Fort Moultrie (Fort Sumter National Monument) Quarter is a quarter from the Philadelphia Mint, belonging to the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 154,400,000 Fort Moultrie quarters dated 2016. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts Sergeant William Jasper returning the regimental flag to the fort's palmetto-log ramparts during battle. Fort Moultrie marks the site of the first decisive American victory of the Revolutionary War in 1776. Shawnee (IL), Cumberland Gap (KY), Harpers Ferry (WV), Theodore Roosevelt (ND), and Fort Moultrie (SC) were released. The Harpers Ferry design depicting John Brown's Fort was historically significant. Estimated market value ranges from $0.25 to $1 depending on grade and condition.
