The 2016 (D) Theodore Roosevelt National Park Quarter, struck at the Denver Mint, is part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 collection. The Denver Mint struck 232,200,000 Theodore Roosevelt quarters dated 2016. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse shows a young Theodore Roosevelt on horseback, looking out over the land near the Little Missouri River. Inscriptions: THEODORE ROOSEVELT, NORTH DAKOTA, 2016 and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Roosevelt's ranching experiences in the 1880s shaped his conservation philosophy, leading to the establishment of 230 million acres of protected public lands. Shawnee (IL), Cumberland Gap (KY), Harpers Ferry (WV), Theodore Roosevelt (ND), and Fort Moultrie (SC) were released. The Harpers Ferry design depicting John Brown's Fort was historically significant. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906.
