Description
2016-P SC WDDR-006 is a doubled die reverse on the 2016-P Fort Moultrie (Fort Sumter National Monument) quarter (South Carolina) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Doubling shows at the bottom of the coat worn by Sergeant William Jasper. Obverse markers: thin NW/SE scratches through LIBERTY's RTY; a large gouge touching the upper right corner of WE's W; and, SW of the designer's initials JF, a small gouge. Reverse markers: a thin crack across the flagpole over the shoulder; a thin crack on top of Jasper's left arm; and thin NE/SW field scratches to the right of Jasper, which are strongest near the coat's bottom. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
