Description

2016-P SC WDDR-008 is a doubled die reverse on the 2016-P Fort Moultrie (Fort Sumter National Monument) quarter (South Carolina) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Very minor doubling shows at the bottom of the coat worn by Sergeant William Jasper. Obverse markers: a thin crack running through the designer's initials JF, plus die chips right of the F and on the J; a gouge inside QUARTER's Q; a gouge inside the upper opening of IN's N and another under that N's right side; and a weak scratch from the rim through AMERICA's M. Reverse markers: parallel cracks along the flagpole and the flag's left side, with a die chip at the shoulder; a crack with many die chips on top of Jasper's left arm; a crack linking the hat's top with the outer ring; and a large gouge just under Jasper's right hand.
