2011 (P) Jefferson Nickel - P-5DER-001T Trail Die Reverse

Description

2011P-5DER-001T carries trails on the LU of PLURIBUS that point to 300°, west-northwest, toward the upper left. The number stands for a 2011 Philadelphia nickel, 5 being the denomination and DER TrailDies' reverse design extension, with 001 as file and T for trails. TrailDies describes a stage C coin, late in the die's use. On its obverse a small die dot sits beside the foot of the first 1 in the date, on its right, and a gouge lies under the U of TRUST; the reverse has a dot low and to the left of the motto's E and a gouge under the C of AMERICA. Tanaka (Mikee) Davis found it. The likeliest source, by most accounts, is a rotary buff used to polish the die, though die movement against the hub has also been proposed.

• Stage “C“, obverse is LDS – a small die dot can be seen to the right of the base of the first 1 digit in the date. A small die gouge is sen under the U of TRUST.
• Reverse is LDS – a small die dot is seen in the field to the left and under the E in the motto EPU. A die gouge is seen under the C of AMERICA.
