2009 (P) Native American Dollar - Position A - P(SAC)-100DEO-001T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Heavy, short trails come from the top left corners of the BER in LIBERTY on 2009P(SAC)-100DEO-001T, a 2009 Native American dollar obverse with the Sacagawea portrait, and run due west at 270°. The parts of the code: 2009P, year and Philadelphia mint; (SAC), the Sacagawea design; 100, a dollar; DEO, obverse; 001, file; T, trails. Steven Bernatowicz found the die. At stage A, a line of small gouges lies to the right of Sacagawea's right shoulder; stage B, found by Tim Dale, adds a gouge just over the horizontal bar of the L in LIBERTY and another between the R and T. A rotary buff used to polish the die is the cause usually named for trails, and some name the die moving against the hub instead.

• Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – a die gouge is seen just above horizontal bar of the L in LIBERTY. Another die gouge is seen between the RT of LIBERTY
