Description
The 2009 (P) Native American Dollar - Position A is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. Total mintage reached 39.2 million. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son Jean Baptiste Crapeau on her back, while the reverse displays rotating designs honoring Native American contributions to the United States. Designed by Glenna Goodacre/Norm Nemeth. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #406935. The Sacagawea Dollar (2000-2008) honored the Shoshone woman who guided the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The 2000-P "Cheerios Dollar" variety (different tail feather detail) is a valuable modern rarity. The Glenna Goodacre Presentation Dollars (in 22-karat gold finish) are extremely rare.
