Description
2009P(JP)-100DER-001T, the reverse of a James K. Polk Presidential dollar, has soft, mushy trails on the TES of STATES, on the Statue of Liberty's torch and on the AME of AMERICA. Their offset direction is 030°, north-northeast. TrailDies writes the year and Philadelphia mint as 2009P, Polk's initials as (JP), the dollar as 100, the reverse design extension as DER, the file as 001 and trails as T. Aisha Shahid found it. At stage C, late in the die pair's life, the obverse has a die dent above the A of JAMES and the field around Polk's bust is starting to break down; the reverse has no markers. Trails are typically attributed to polishing the die with a rotary buff; the alternative view involves the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “C“, obverse is LDS – a die dent is seen above the A of JAMES. The field around the bust of Polk does show signs of deterioration.
- Reverse is LDS – none noted.
