Description
Two directions show on 2009P(DC)-25DEO-005T. Lines below LI in LIBERTY point east-southeast at 120°, while those from AMER in AMERICA run due west, 270°, toward the left rim. The code covers a 2009 Philadelphia quarter (25) of the District of Columbia design (DC), the obverse (DEO, TrailDies' design extension obverse), file 005 and trails (T). On the late-die-state coin a die scratch sits just right of LIBERTY's R, and the reverse is cross-referenced to WDDR-006. Steven Bernatowicz found the die (the entry spells it Bernatowics). Rotary polishing of the die is the cause most often given for trails; others point to the die working against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage "C", obverse is LDS – a die scratch is seen to the right of the R in LIBERTY.
- Reverse is LDS – the reverse is a doubled die; WDDR-006.
