Description
Trails drop from the bottoms of the letters in LIBERTY and QUARTER on 2009P(DC)-25DEO-003T and run west-southwest, at 240°, down and to the left. The number is a 2009 Philadelphia quarter with the District of Columbia reverse, the obverse side (DEO, design extension obverse), file 003 and trail type T. Its late-die-state obverse has three small markers: a die dot under the E of LIBERTY, a gouge under the S of STATES and another under the A of AMERICA. No reverse markers are listed. Steven Bernatowicz found it, though the entry spells the name Bernatowics. Most specialists put trails like these down to polishing of the die with a rotary buff, while some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage "C", obverse is LDS – a die dot is seen below the E of LIBERTY. A small die gouge is seen below the S of STATES. Another small die gouge is seen below the A of AMERICA.
- Reverse is LDS – none noted.
