Description
2009P(DC)-25DEO-002T is an obverse from the 2009 District of Columbia quarter. In TrailDies' code, 2009P is the year and Philadelphia mint, DC the design, 25 the quarter, DEO an obverse design extension, 002 the file and T trails. Moderate lines hang from the lower left corners of the letters in LIBERTY, with light ones on UAR in QUARTER, all heading south-southwest at 200°. The coin is from early in the die's life. Its obverse has no markers, but the reverse has a gouge between the M and B of COLUMBIA, two dents to the right of the piano and a small gouge over the T of JUSTICE. Steven Bernatowicz found the die. Trails are thought by most to come from polishing the die with a rotary buff and by some to come from the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage "A", obverse is EDS – none noted.
- Reverse is EDS – a die gouge is seen between the MB of COLUMBIA. Two die dents are seen to the right of the piano. Another small die gouge is seen above the T of JUSTICE.
