Description
Trails sit in the word HAWAII and in 1959 on 2008P(HI)-25DER-006T, and point due east at 090°, toward the right rim. In TrailDies' numbering, that is a 2008 Philadelphia quarter with the Hawaii design, with 25-DER for a quarter reverse in the design extension group and 006T for the file and trail type. The late-die-state coin shows a crack at the lower left of Washington's bust and, on the reverse, a gouge under Kauai and to the left of Oahu on the island chain. Steven Bernatowicz found it. Such trails are normally blamed on the die being polished with a rotary buff; a minority view links them to the die moving on the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage "C", obverse is LDS – a die crack is seen on the lower left bottom of Washington's bust.
- Reverse is LDS – a die gouge is seen below Kauai and to the left of Oahu.
