Description

2008P(HI)-25DER-005T has trails on the word HAWAII and on the date, running at 120°, east-southeast. Its TrailDies code puts 2008 and the Philadelphia P first, then the Hawaii tag HI; after that come 25 (quarter), DER (reverse design extension), 005 (file) and T. The middle-die-state coin can be told from the other Hawaii files by a scratch between Washington's nose and UN of UNITED on the obverse and a gouge to the right of King Kamehameha on the reverse. Steven Bernatowicz found the die. As usually explained, the lines come from a polishing wheel run across the die, though some attribute them to die-to-hub movement.
