Description
Very light trails leave the H of HAWAII and the date 1959 on 2008P(HI)-25DER-003T and point west-northwest, at 300°. TrailDies' number joins the year and Philadelphia mint (2008P), the Hawaii tag (HI), the quarter (25), a reverse design extension (DER), file 003 and T. Because the lines are faint, the obverse marker helps: on the late-early-die-state coin a small tail hangs below the first T of TRUST. Nothing is listed for the reverse. Jimmy Ehrhart found the die. Trails are generally attributed to die polishing with a rotating buff, though a few writers trace them to the die moving against the hub.
