Error
Description
An unusual die that has two sets of reciprocal bearing trail lines. The first set has trails from the toe of King Kumehameha, the base of the statue, the 2 digit in the date. This is the first die of its kind.
Die Markers
- Stage "B", obverse is MDS (?) – none known.
- Reverse is MDS (?) – die scratches above the DW.

Pictures and information courtesy of Ken Potter. This picture shows the relationship between the two sets of trails. DESCRIPTION: An unusual die that has two sets of reciprocal bearing trail lines. The first set, which is the major set, has trails from the toe of King Kumehameha, the base of the statue, the 2 digit in the date and some of the letters in E PLURIBUS. The offset directions for this set are 090 degrees and 270 degrees. The other set, which is minor, is located on the designers initials and have directional offsets of 030 degrees and 210 degrees. This is the first die of its kind. DIE MARKERS: Stage "C", obverse is ELDS – a die gouge in the U of QUARTER. A small die gouge under the I of AMERICA. Reverse is ELDS – none noted. NOTE: This die was found by Bill Taschwer.
