2007 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DEO-003T Trail Die Obverse

Description

On 2007D-1DEO-003T the trails start at the upper left corner of each letter in LIBERTY and run at 340°, a little west of north. In TrailDies' scheme, 2007D is the Denver date, 1 the cent, DEO an obverse design extension, 003 the file number and T the trail type. The coin described comes from late in the die's life: a small gouge lies just right of the N in IN, and on the reverse a large chip in the upper arch of bay 1 runs into the top of column 2. David Miller found the die. Die polishing with a rotary buff is the explanation most often given; a minority attributes trails to the die moving against the hub.

Die Markers

• Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – a small die gouge is seen to the right of the N of IN.
• Reverse is LDS – a large die chip is seen in the upper arch of bay 1 and migrates into the upper part of column 2.
