2007 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

2007-D WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 2007-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The letters of EPU (E PLURIBUS UNUM), the dots, the details of the Memorial roof and the Lincoln statue all show extra thickness. On the obverse: a small gouge in the upper part of the G in GOD; two small gouges in the first zero of the date; a short diagonal gouge just beneath the D mint mark; a field gouge well to the east of the nose; and a field gouge well to the NNE of the 7. On the reverse: a gouge between the I and T of UNITED, low down; a gouge beneath the lower left of the A in STATES; a gouge right of the base of the second A in AMERICA; cracks atop columns 1, 2 and 3; and a crack down the lower left of the E in CENT, continuing to the rim. Wendell Carper submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
