Description
2007D-1DEO-002T shows light trails from the R and Y of LIBERTY, with the B and E of the same word showing the kind of distortion TrailDies expects on dies like this. The offset direction is 190°, just west of due south. The number gives the 2007 Denver date, the cent (1), an obverse design extension (DEO), file 002 and the T for trails. It is an early-die-state coin, unmarked on the obverse, with a small dent on the reverse at the top left of column 3. Bill Slaughter found it. The common explanation for trails is a rotary tool used in polishing the die, though some think the die moved against the hub.
