Error
Description
On 2005P(KS)-25DEO-001T the trails hang from the bottoms of the letters in LIBERTY and point south-southeast, 150°, down and slightly right. The number means a 2005 quarter from Philadelphia with the Kansas design on the reverse; its 25-DEO middle means a quarter obverse showing design extension, and 001T is file 001, trail type. The late-die-state coin TrailDies describes has a crack along the lower edge of Washington's bust on the obverse and another from the lower right corner of the mound to the rim on the reverse. Steve Bernatowicz found the die. The standard account ties trails to die polishing with a spinning tool, and a less common one to movement of the die against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage "C", obverse is LDS – a die crack is seen along the lower base of Washington's bust.
- Reverse is LDS – a die crack is seen from the lower right side corner of the mound to the rim.
