2005 (P) Jefferson Nickel - Bison - Atypical Die Clash ADC-5C-2005-01

Description

ADC-5c-2005-01 is an atypical die clash on a 2005-P Jefferson nickel with the Bison reverse, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The clash is not strong, and it is nicknamed the "peeing bison," since the marks sit mostly below the bison's stomach. MDC's overlay shows the die positions at the clash. The clashed areas appear to have been abraded and the marks removed: MDC's die photos show the obverse first with the clash marks from the reverse and then with them gone, and the same marker on Jefferson's nose in both shows it is one die; a close-up pair shows the same sequence. The abrasion created a second error: the upper part of the bison's left leg was polished away, giving a detached leg. The coin is courtesy of Troy Watkins.
