2005 (D) Minnesota State Quarter - D(MN)-25DER-001T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Light trails rise from some of the treetops on 2005D(MN)-25DER-001T and point straight up, at 000°, which is north on the coin. The number identifies a 2005 Denver quarter (25) with the Minnesota design (MN), a reverse design extension (DER), file 001 and the trail type T. TrailDies describes a late die state. The obverse has a crack in the ribbon tying Washington's queue that ends just above the second L of DOLLAR, and the reverse a crack from the left edge of the state map out to the rim. Albert Niles Sr. found it. Trails like these are usually traced to polishing of the die face with a rotary buff, and occasionally to the die moving against the hub.

• Stage "C", obverse is LDS – a die crack is seen in the ribbon holding Washington's queue, terminating just above the second L of DOLLAR.
• Reverse is LDS – a die crack is seen from the Minnesota map's left edge to the rim.
