Description

The 2005 (D) Minnesota State Quarter is a quarter produced at the Denver Mint as part of the State Quarters 1999-2008 series. The U.S. Mint produced 248.4 million examples, making this ranked 3rd of 11 mint variants by mintage, with 8% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs representing each of the 50 U.S. states, released in the order of statehood ratification. The reverse features two fishermen in a canoe on a tree-lined lake with a common loon on the water and the inscription "Land of 10,000 Lakes." The state actually contains more than 11,000 lakes. California, Minnesota, Oregon, Kansas, and West Virginia. Satin finish specimens from mint sets were produced. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $6 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #14037.
