2004 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DER-007WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

Patrick Gaughan of Pennsylvania found 2004D-1DER-007WS. The stairs below columns 5, 6, 7 and 8 bend light to moderately, the wavy-step effect in which trails run across the Memorial's steps. TrailDies gives 180°, due south. Decoded, the number is the 2004 Denver date (2004D), the cent (1), TrailDies' reverse design extension (DER), file 007 and wavy steps (WS). The obverse of the middle-die-state coin has no markers; the reverse has a dot beneath the left tip of the base and a V-shaped gouge above bay 9. Trails are generally put down to polishing the die with a rotary buff; some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
