2002 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DER-001WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

2002D-1DER-001WS is a 2002 Denver cent reverse whose stairs deviate lightly beneath columns 5 through 7, at 190° according to the entry's heading, a few degrees west of due south. Its number marks Denver 2002, the cent, the reverse side (DER), file 001 and the WS type, wavy steps, which means trail lines crossing the Memorial's stairs and making them look bent. To separate it from similar light dies, the middle-die-state coin has a large group of die dots clustered about the T in TRUST on the obverse and two small gouges under the left post (urn) on the reverse. Most specialists credit trails to polishing of the die with a rotary buff, while some credit die movement against the hub.
