2002 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

2002-D WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 2002-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling shows along the lower right side of the sixth column, left of the statue's legs, and also along the statue's right leg, on its right side. On the obverse, three small gouges lie on the shoulder, a good distance north of the designer's initials. On the reverse, one gouge touches the T of UNITED at its lower left, and another lies under the left side of that T. A gouge is inside the lower part of the C in AMERICA. Near FG, a gouge lies NNW of the F and another north of the G. A gouge also sits between the upper parts of the N and T in CENT. William Slaughter submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
