2002 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-004

Description

2002-D WDDR-004 is a doubled die reverse on the 2002-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Close doubling shows along the lower right side of the sixth Memorial column, left of the statue's legs, and on both legs along their upper right sides. Wexler records two stages. Wexler notes no obverse markers for Stage A. The Stage B obverse shows die pitting above the BER in LIBERTY and a gouge just right of the vest, under the 2 in the date. On the Stage A reverse, a small gouge (dot) lies just beneath the E in UNITED. The Stage B reverse shows a gouge left of the middle of the first column, a gouge under the T in UNITED, a strong gouge touching the lower right side of the T in CENT, and a gouge in the lower part of the seventh bay. William Slaughter submitted the variety. Its Coppercoins number is 2002D-1DR-002.
