1999 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-015

Description

Attributed by VarietyVista as UVC-3128 with die marker reference DMR-018, this 1999 Lincoln Memorial Cent displays a medium spread to the east manifesting as an extra column #6 running from knee height to the pedestal of the Lincoln Memorial. Four die stages have been documented — an unusual depth of die state coverage, as most varieties record only three. Stage A is the Early Die State; Stage B at Early-Mid Die State shows a die clash in bays #3 and #4 and in bays #8 and #9; Stage C and Stage D carry progressive deterioration, with Stage B also exhibiting die damage through the T of CENT. The "bays" refer to the numbered spaces between the Memorial's twelve columns visible in Frank Gasparro's reverse design — a terminology specific to Lincoln Memorial Cent variety attribution. Reverse Die Variety RDV-007. The extra column effect at position #6 creates a ghost architectural element that mirrors the real columns, making this variety one of the more visually distinctive Memorial Cent doubled dies.
